This is my final project for Emerging Technologies. First is the interviews, one with my mom and one with my dad. Next the email to my family members. With information from these two items I was able to complete my family tree. After this I did a prezi on some of my current family members, and an infographic with statistics about my family. Finally a made a 5-frame storyboard depicting my dog and her part in the family.

The world today IS dominated by technology. For students in school its not about the present time or who they are with, it is usually about how many favorites or re-tweets they received on their last post. It's not just the teens and kids though, adults have the same tendencies except in a different way. Adults always have their face in their phones, reading an email or checking their calendars. The social aspect of life today has become all about the virtual friends not the real, everyday friends. One of the best parts of life is having a genuine conversation with someone. Technology will continue to grow and become more advanced, and with that technology the decrease of conversation will continue.

Read THIS blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think this teacher is very wise in saying this, and I think he is smart to say it. Students need to hear this kind of stuff come from people they respect other than their parents. He is saying that school is not about the grades or the points, but it is about how you get to those grades.  School is more than just the classroom, it is outside of it. Teens must learn how to handle the gossip and other bad things they encounter. The main event, adversity, is a central concept in life. Everyone experiences adversity, the people that succeed in life are the people that can handle that adversity.

Reflect on your stop-motion animation project. How did it go? What worked? What didn't work? If you're not finished - why? If you are finished go in to detail about the project and what you learned. Give as much detail and information as possible.

 The day that we took pictures was really fun! We were able to be creative and think of fun ideas then we actually got to do it. If I did it again though I would have a real camera because when I removed the pictures from my phone not all of them transferred. The actual editing of the video was okay too.From this project I learned what stop motion animation videos were and how to make them.

My plan is to have a pair of shoes walk around the classroom and into the hall and back. I have not started taking photos that is what I plan to do today.

Stop motion animation makes a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. Also known as stop image, photographs are taken of the object in various positions and places together as in a video.

Tell me about your 5 frame storyboard. What did you like about the project? What did you dislike? Was it hard to fit a story in to 5 images? Do you think you tell a clear story? What would you do differently if you could? Explain.

My storyboard is about Avery doing a homework assignment. I liked this project because we got to take pictures and that was fun, even though I'm not the best at taking pictures. Something I didn't like about this project was I don't really know how to effectively use a photo editor so that was kind of hard. My story fit well in 5 images and it does tell a clear story. If I could do something different on this project I would use my original idea of my story taking place at a baseball field. I didn't do this setting because I didn't have time to go take the pictures.

I don't know what a storyboard is but if I had to guess I would say it is probably a way to show pictures.

Yes we took all of our pictures. Yes, the scavenger hunt was very fun because we were allowed to walk around. So there would be a variety in the pictures we have.

I do not know much about photography, I am not very good at taking pictures. I usually use my cell phone camera, but sometimes I use a digital one.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

My spring break was very good. It stated a little early when I was checked out just before seventh hour began so my family could begin the eight hour trek to Memphis, Tennessee. We went to Memphis because the university my dad attended, Southern Methodist University, was playing the there conference tournament that weekend. The games were a ton of fun even though SMU was knocked out in the first round. Among other things we ate plenty of barbecue, visited the Memphis Zoo, and went to a movie as well while we were there. We came back the next Monday and the rest of my spring break was pretty ordinary. My family and I watched a lot of basketball and I had baseball practice every day that week.

What is the significance of an infographic? What is the point of pairing graphics and information together? What impact can this have on a reader or viewer. EXPLAIN.

An infographic displays information in a visual way that makes the information more interesting. When graphics are paired with information readers are more interested in the information, because the information is given to them in a creative and colorful way that draws their eye. If a reader sees some information that is presented to them in a different way than it usually is (in the from of a powerpoint or someone speaking), they will want to read and learn about that information.

I would choose the infographic because less work is required and infographics are more fun. Papers require hours of research, but for infographics all you have to have are a couple powerful facts plus add some good designs and color and your project is good.

I am not very far. Last class period I was having a little trouble learning how to use the program. I will probably be finished by the end of class. I have used my time fairly wisely.

Yesterday I introduced you to infographics... tell me again what they are and how they are used? What is the benefit of an infographic? What goes into an infogrpahic?

They are a creative a to tell someone about an issue or how to do something. People like infographics because they are a fun way to learn something. An infographic can include images, statistics, and other facts and evidence.

My global issue paper is about gun violence. I discussed the causes of gun violence, the effects of gun violence or different types of people, and ways to help stop gun violence. The issue of guns if especially prevalent in the US today and needs to be dealt with.

Where are you at with your 5 paragraph essay so far? How is it coming? Is it easy to write? Difficult to write? Is it helpful that you created an outline first? Explain.

I am not very far only about halfway through with the second paragraph. It is going okay, my sources would not work last class period though. It is pretty easy to write because I have so many sources and information. The outline is very helpful because I know what to write about next.

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

I went to the Sweetheart at Blue Valley West because one of my friends from my church asked me. We met at her house for pictures that lasted FOREVER. After pictures a mom of one of the girls in our group drove us to Garozzo's for dinner. I had fettuccine alfredo and it was delicious! After dinner we went to the dance. I didn't know that many people there so it was kind of boring but  it wasn't to bad. I was too tired to go to an after party so I just went home after the dance.

I look up to my mom and my dad because they are great examples of how to live. They teach me the difference between right and wrong, and how to be a good addition to society. They help me by giving me advice when I ask them, and they guide me in how to make a difference in the world.

A PSA is an announcement made through a media presentation to raise awareness for a specific issue of society. A just saw a PSA in Tiger Time about cyber bullying.

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate! On Friday and Saturday I had a basketball tournament. On Friday night we beat Slagle, then on Saturday we beat Blue Valley Northwest and Blue Valley West to win the tournament. After the games on Saturday I hung out with a friend. On Sunday I had baseball practice in the morning, then church right after, then the rest of the day I spent at a friend's house watching the AFC Championship Game and the NFC Championship Game. I was pretty upset because both of my teams lost. On Monday I just had a lazy day and pretty much did nothing except for going to basketball practice in the morning.

What have you learned about Google Drive and Google Presentation so far? What do you like about it? What problems have you run in to? Is it better than PowerPoint? Explain.

I like that in you can open anything in Google Drive from any computer. I like in Google Presentation how it saves automatically without you having to press the save button. I have run in to problems when trying to save pictures onto Google Drive. Google Presentation and PowerPoint are very similar; however, I think I like PowerPoint better. I like how in PowerPoint you can crop photos.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it."

If someone posted it I should be able to use it. If the image is not protected or it does not have to be bought to use, such as on Google images, the image is free game. If someone wanted their image to be protected, there are ways to make that happen. Students use the internet everyday and some of them do not even know how to cite items, so if someone wants their image to be their own, then don't post it.

A better knowledge of computers and how to run different programs on the computer. Technology is becoming more important in the world every day. There are so many different things to do using technology, and I have no clue what most of them are. I want to be more comfortable with technology than when I came in.
